Whitening your teeth for summer

Posted by Default Admin on 21 April 2015

As summer draws closer and the evenings grow longer, more and more cameras are out in Pontyclun to capture those summer snaps. However, 'smile for the camera' is something which many feel self-conscious about. With stains on the teeth being a common issue, many crave a brighter smile and don't necessarily know all the range of ways that this can be achieved. Here at Brilliant Dental, we offer different cosmetic dentistry options so that you can make the choice that's right for you.

Avoiding Stains

Diet and lifestyle can actually make a big difference. Drink choices such as carbonated or acidic drinks, wine and coffee can affect the tooth colour. Smoking too may stain the colour of your teeth. As well as this, teeth will naturally darken with age. Following a good oral hygiene regime with frequent brushing and flossing will go a long way towards protecting against staining. This should be combined with regular visits to the dentist to ensure healthy teeth.

Cosmetic Tooth Polish

This option is available for stubborn stains. It is a simple treatment but much more effective than a standard polish; stains are painlessly blasted away. This is achieved by blowing a jet of flavoured polish onto your teeth. Once the stains are removed, the underlying whiteness of your teeth is revealed.

Tooth Whitening

Here at Brilliant Dental, we can whiten your teeth in a number of different ways. We offer individual consultations to discuss your options so that you can decide which process is the best for you. We can offer either instant or more gradual results, depending on your individual needs and desires. This is a treatment particularly suited to teeth which have become yellow or mottled in appearance. Our techniques are painless and non-invasive, which work to give you the colour you desire without affecting the strength of your teeth in any way.

Veneers

We offer two different types of veneers: either you can have traditional porcelain veneers made by a lab technician, or you can choose the newer 'Edelweiss' option, which are placed and fitted in a single visit. Veneers are thin layers which cover the surface of the teeth and so any unsightly blemishes. As well as altering the outer appearance of the teeth, they are also a way of defending the surface of a damaged tooth.

The above treatments are simple and affordable. To find out more and discuss your options, please give us a call today on 01443 887564.
