Disclosing Tablets

Not all of us have heard about disclosing tablets and of those who have, not many actually use them. So, what are the benefits and should you be incorporating them into your oral hygiene routine? Here, we outline the key facts.

  • Who are they for?

Generally, everyone. Disclosing tablets can help anyone take care of their teeth. With that said, always consult the packet for guidance on age restrictions etc for the individual product.

  • What do they do?

Disclosing tablets dye the plaque on your teeth so that you can see it - and brush it away!

  • When should you use them?

Once you've brushed and flossed your teeth. Using the tablet after will highlight the bits you missed as any residue will be dyed and turn visible to you. You can then brush and floss these bits away and know that you have given your teeth a thorough clean.

  • Why should you use them?

If plaque isn't removed, it can harden and form tartar. This is a substance so solid that it cannot be rubbed away by mere brushing. The bacteria in tartar release acid which softens and erodes the tooth enamel, so decaying the teeth. Using disclosing tablets prevent the build-up of plaque and so prevents this from happening.
