Dentists and Anxiety

Posted by Default Admin on 28 July 2015

Going to the dentist is a common source of anxiety but here at Brilliant Dental, we want to make sure that you feel relaxed throughout your visit to us. Here's some information about how we try and help you remain calm during your treatments.

Our Difference

We want to give you an entirely different patient experience. Even if visits to other dentists have been negative, we want to help you turn that around and know that a visit to the dentist is something to feel confident about.

Step-By-Step Explanations

Here at Brilliant, we want to make sure you feel confident all the way through your procedure. If you have any questions or concerns, we will take care to break down the process for you, explaining at every stage exactly what's going to happen. Our treatments take place at a relaxed pace to ensure that you feel at ease at every point of your appointment.

Please know that we want to know exactly what your anxieties are so that we can allay your fears. Tell us what you need and we will take care to make sure your experience with us is pleasant. We pride ourselves on providing a calm and supportive atmosphere.

Calming Techniques

If you feel nervous before your visit, there are different techniques which can be used to relax yourself. One of the most effective ways this can be done is to concentrate on your breath and counting to ten each time as you draw your breath in and out, therefore distracting yourself and calming your body. Listening to music can also be a welcome distraction. You could also try tension exercises: first focus on your toes and tense and relax them three times, then move onto focusing on your feet and again tensing and relaxing three times. Now focus on the lower leg, then upper leg and continue moving through each part of your body.

Remember that the purpose of your visit is for us to help you - the earlier an issue is caught, the quicker it can be resolved.
